Angel Forum is an event where 30+ prescreened technology, service, and manufacturing companies seeking equity funding of $100,000 to $1 million, present to 60+ pre-screened private equity investors (80 registered for last Forum). This unique event has been held semi-annually since 1997 and includes companies exhibiting their products & services during networking breaks and at the closing wine reception. Open to all is the popular Investor Ready 101 "How to Raise Equity" seminar on Sept 26 in Vancouver (Sept 29 on Vancouver Island). - an experienced management team (not necessarily complete) located a half day from the investor.
For investors, the combination of BC's 30% investment rebate, realistic private business valuations, higher public equity markets and improved demand from institutional investors, means that this is an excellent time to negotiate a private investment.

Fire Situation at McKinney. On top of all our minds for the past week was the unfortunate fire situation just outside of Oliver. Within 48 hours of the fire starting and the media getting it on their radar screen, several Board of Directors and staff of the Destination Osoyoos team convened. We worked on a plan of action to try to defuse the panic over the proximity of the fire to Osoyoos, with the goal of reducing the fear of tourists visiting the area. As a result of this, we instituted a few action items such a publishing the Air Quality Index on the Destination Osoyoos website reducing any health concerns, compiled Talking Points (FAQ) to assist the front-line team to respond to any enquiries, and prepared a Press Release for distribution to all media. Due to the efficiency of the fire crew we did not have to implement the full plan. The fire did not appear to effect our tourist season as numbers are still climbing! Media in town – early August we were fortunate enough to host some very well respected media, Ed Readicker Henderson and Melissa Castelman for just one night as part of their 7 day visit to BC. They both have very impressive bio’s, writing for publications such as National Geographic Traveller, Modern Bride, Conde Nest Traveller, Sunset Magazine and a new Wine Adventure Magazine. The reason for exploring our area was to learn more about our growing wine and tourism industry. They were very excited about what we have to offer; we look forward to some interesting articles appearing in these international publications. | |
