

Destination Osoyoos is seeking new volunteer board members. The mission of Destination Osoyoos is to enhance the quality of life in the Osoyoos Area through Economic Development and Tourism Services. Destination Osoyoos accomplishes this by assessing economic indicators, building partnerships, marketing the region, and developing and implementing new innovative ideas and opportunities.
As a board member, your role will be to provide leadership and feedback on the development and implementation of policies, plans, and initiatives.

Bookkeeper Contractor Description
Position Title: Bookkeeper (Contractor)
Knowledge:
• Must possess good fundamental understanding in all facets of accounting and be
proficient in "QuickBooks" Professional computerized bookkeeping system.
• Should have good understanding of spread sheets and preferably graphical
spreadsheets.
• Must have knowledge of and experience with MS Office (MS Excel especially).
Personality:
• Should have a decidedly professional manner, enjoy detail and be very organized.
• Must be able to work quick, clean and complete -- no loose ends.
• Should be able to communicate well with others particularly management.
• Must meet deadlines.
Duties:
The Bookkeeper shall adhere to the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) Code of Ethics.
The definition of Bookkeeper and definition of duties that will govern is that of CBA, not
withstanding the following:
General:
• Bank Reconciliation
• Trial Balance
• General Ledger
• A/P duties
• Government Remittances
• Payroll and/or Commission Reporting
• Produce monthly Financial Statement
Previous may include one or all of the following:
• Transferring data from invoices/purchase orders to QuickBooks
• Generate, payroll, invoices, and accounts payable items
• Monthly reconciliation of bank statements, journal entries for cost distribution to
respectable parties, expense distribution to those affected, etc.
• Handle various aspects of check writing and ledger, general ledger, billing, accounts
receivable, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting and other reporting functions.
• Reconcile accounts and transfer between various established departments.
• Work directly with management.
• Keep complete, up-to-date, and accurate records of accounts and financial
arrangements.
• Verify and enter information into journals and ledgers or into a computer.
• Periodically balance the books and compile reports and financial statements.
• Receive, record, bank and pay out cash.
• Balance checkbooks with monthly bank statements.
• Calculate employee wages from records and issue payroll utilizing automatic
banking system.
About work/ candidate:
• The preferred candidate will know QuickBooks and be computer savvy.
• Experience with payroll tax payments and quarterly filings are also a plus.
• Because of the amount of technology involved, we are looking for someone who
learns computer programs quickly and is willing to stay with us long term. There is
great potential for this position to grow from a contractor into a full time
bookkeeping and/or office management position.
• Education in accounting at least at the high school level is required. Higher levels
preferred, but experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
• Work to be performed onsite and some from home. Depending on ability of
candidate to understand the workings of our systems will determine how much
work is done at home and how much is done in the office. As the candidate matures
in the job, the majority of work may be done from home; however, a local candidate
is highly preferred.
