B.C. CONTINUES TO BE A DESTINATION PROVINCE

VICTORIA – For the second year in a row more people are choosing to make British Columbia their home because of the opportunities this province offers, Finance Minister Colin Hansen said today following the release of figures that show the highest net inter-provincial migration to B.C. in almost a decade.

“Our plan to rebuild B.C.'s economy is working,” said Hansen. “The fact that thousands of people are moving here and putting down roots is a sign of growing confidence in B.C.'s future.”

Tourism

The cities and towns of the
Thompson Okanagan region are blessed by some of the best weather in British Columbia. You can count on sunny days to walk, hike, cycle, golf, sunbathe or indulge in every kind of water sport imaginable - many of the towns are located beside warm lakes with white, sandy beaches. This is also a land of wineries and fruit orchards; make sure to stop for a wine-tasting in the many vineyards found in and near cities and towns. This area also has a wonderful cultural corridor that runs through most communities in the Okanagan. Many towns are close to mountains that offer terrific family skiing in winter.

Osoyoos
Osoyoos (population: 4,295) is
located at the Okanagan Valley's southern tip, in the middle of Canada's only true desert. As this is the prime grape-growing region of BC, there are more than 15 estate wineries within a 15-minute drive of the town centre. Many visitors schedule their holidays there to coincide with the Spring and Fall Wine Festivals. Osoyoos is also a popular summer holiday destination and has gained an enviable reputation as the community of choice for retirees who wish to escape harsher Canadian climes. All in all, it's a true "lifestyle community," where people go to enjoy the good life.
