Destination Osoyoos to “lunch and learn” with a leader in Canadian tourism and hospitality Rod Harris: Leader. Thinker. Doer. One of Canada’s most respected leaders and sought-after speakers in the tourism and hospitality industry will be speaking at Destination Osoyoos’ Annual General Meeting. Rod Harris, an adjunct faculty member in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management in the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University, and former CEO and president of Tourism BC, will be sharing interesting and insightful messages in his speech “SYNCRONIZED COLLABORATION”, which he’ll be delivering to Destination Osoyoos and others in the business community at the AGM luncheon.

Harris led Tourism BC for 12 years, during which time the organization won various marketing and employment awards, including Marketer of the Year in BC by the American Marketing Association in 1999 and gold medals from the Canadian Marketing Association, the Pacific Asia Travel Association, and the Canadian Direct Marketing Association. In 2008 Tourism British Columbia was recognized for its leadership in the Canadian tourism industry with the prestigious Global Tourism Award at the World Travel market in London, England.

Prior to joining Tourism BC, Harris was an executive in major Canadian marketing and advertising companies such as McLaren and John Labatt Limited (vice-president and general manager of one of its wine divisions). He has also been a senior manager responsible for marketing leading brands of such multinational corporations as Colgate-Palmolive, Sara Lee, and Lever Brothers.
