Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing in Osoyoos

While Osoyoos’ warmer climate and lack of snow may not make the obvious choice for a typical winter getaway, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on your favourite winter activities! While skiing and snowboarding may not be for everyone, there are other options to get out and above the clouds!

McKinney Nordic Ski Club

Located a mere 45 minutes from Osoyoos, awaits 9km of groomed cross country ski runs at the McKinney Nordic Ski Club. When the clouds blanket our lovely valley in the winter months, McKinney Nordic Ski Club is usually bathed in sunlight.  Why not take a drive above the clouds and go for a cross country ski or snowshoe?  They have a nice selection of track-set cross country trails and lovely snowshoe walks. Trail use is by donation and visitors are asked to sign the log book.

McKinney Nordic Ski Club is a locally operated cross-country ski and snowshoe club. There are 9km of groomed cross country ski trails & approximately 5km of marked snowshoe trails.

Driving directions: turn east off of Highway 97 in downtown Oliver, BC onto Fairview Rd. Travel along Fairview Rd, proceeding past South Okanagan General Hospital to the Inkameep Indian Band Office located on McKinney Rd.  Follow McKinney Rd. east until km 27.

Baldy Mountain Resort

Another 12km down the road, Baldy Mountain Resort awaits. Experience cross-country skiing Baldy Mountain Resort style. They offer 5 km of groomed cross-country ski terrain as well as untouched, more advanced, trails to explore. Cross-country skiing trails can be easily reached from the day lodge, and spans out from there. The trails are clearly marked and easy to follow. Trail use is free but visitors are asked to sign a waiver at Guest Services before heading out.

Baldy also offers snowshoe trails for beginners and the experienced alike. Snowshoeing is a great activity for those who want to go at a slower pace and take in Baldy Mt’s incredible views while the others are skiing or riding. Join a guided tour and learn about the mountain’s history, discover some new terrain, or just enjoy the peaceful quiet away from the crowds. Bring your own snowshoes, or rent from their rental shop and explore! Trail use is free but visitors are asked to sign a waiver at Guest Services before heading out.

Baldy Mt has 5 km of groomed cross country ski terrain and 5 km of dedicated snowshoe trails. The snowshoe trails vary from flat beginner terrain to expert alpine terrain.
