The Crossley Crawford Group @ Venables Theatre

  • Event Cost: 15

The Crossley Crawford Group has been together since 2015, performing to sold out shows at “Jazz at Zias,” Penticton’s Dream Cafe, the Vernon Jazz Club, and the Ryga Arts Centre. They have recorded two CD’s of original jazz and vocal jazz tunes. Their shows are a mix of familiar jazz standards with a twist, as well as originals with a traditional swing flair.

Larry Crawford’s career spans decades and includes playing on the original Sesame Street, touring with Liberace, Sammy Davis Jr. and Harry Belafonte, and five years touring with the NORAD bands. In addition to playing clarinet, tenor and soprano saxes and flute, this Okanagan icone is a prolific composer and arranger.

Allan Crossley has been a mainstay at Zias since 2015, playing solo piano over three hundred times. In addition to playing keys, he is the lyricist for Larry’s compositions. He is hard at work on a show called “Stories, Lies, and All That Jazz.”

Yanti’s vocals are always a delight. Whether soloing with her ukulele or singing with a band, she draws audiences in with her enthusiasm and passion. She brings the Crawford/Crossley compositions to life!

Rounding out the group are Stefan Bienz, a bass player in high demand, who plays with numerous local groups and musical productions; Scott Gamble, one of the finest drummers in B.C., whose musical playing and soloing are remarkable. Joining the group recently is Stan Sabourin on saxophone, a seasoned performer who plays with many different groups.
