The name Hugging Tree was inspired by two entangled trees. The trees seemed to embody the spirit of the family and the winery; to be connected – connected to the land, to the vines and to each other. But it’s more than the name that keeps the old and the new properties tied together. The first new vineyard was planted with cuttings from the original vines. And so the story of connection goes deeper, and continues.
Feel connected through and with the Hugging Tree family as they share their abundance. Experience their passion and authenticity through their wines and in the tasting room knowing that the land is respected and protected, the vines cherished and the wines crafted with care.

Hugging Tree Winery is a family owned and operated winery nestled against the mountainside in the enchanting Similkameen Valley. Hugging Tree wines are crafted from vines planted, nurtured and harvested by the Makepeace family.
The winery and tasting room are cradled within Makepeace Organic Farms and the farm hosts numerous varieties of organic peaches, apples and luscious vegetable gardens.

Breathtaking views from the 60 acres of orchards and vineyards take in five bends of the beautiful Similkameen River. Lovely wines, garden delights and organic jams are yours to discover during your tasting room visit.

We are thrilled to be able to once again serve you at our new Hugging Tree Winery location. Due to Covid-19, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of our family, staff, and guests. We are currently accepting reservations, with a maximum capacity of 6 people per group. We recommend pre-booking your appointment to ensure an optimal tasting experience.
