Osoyoos Oyster Festival 2018

Another fantastic weekend at the 2018 Osoyoos Oyster Festival!

Destination Osoyoos successfully hosted the 7th annual Osoyoos Oyster Festival this past weekend. Over 375 guests from Vancouver, the Interior, and Ontario joined us for a weekend full of delicious oyster creations, wine and spirit pairings, contests, and more!

Beach BBQ & Brews

BBQ oysters, craft beer, cider, spirits, and the beach. A beautiful combination on a beautiful evening! Guests enjoyed trying various BBQ oyster creations along with samples of local craft beer, cider, and spirits at the stunning Walnut Beach Resort on Osoyoos Lake.

Deep Sea Garden Party

We could not have asked for a better day to host the Deep Sea Garden Party at the Watermark Beach Resort! The sun was shining and temperatures reached 17 degrees that afternoon. Guests spent their time wine tasting at over 15 winery booths from Oliver, Osoyoos and the Similkameen, enjoying fresh shucked oysters courtesy of Effingham Oyster, Out Landish Shellfish Guild, Codfather’s Seafood Market, and the Oyster Barrow as well as Chef Adair’s oyster chowder and pork & prawns provided by Two Rivers Meats. There were also various local vendors in attendance selling their hand crafted jewelry, handmade soaps and lotions, as well as cute homemade housewares. Music was played by Luke Whittall.

Art of the Pearl Gala

The event finished off with the renowned Art of the Pearl Gala. Guests were encouraged to dress up in their best under the sea costume. The evening began with a bubbly reception poured by Church and State in the courtyard at the stunning Spirit Ridge Resort. The event then moved inside where chefs were creating their oyster and seafood creations and pairing it with wines, spirits, and craft beers. There were numerous contests happening for best costume, best dish, and best wine pairing. The best dish award went to Desert Hills for their tandoori halibut cheeks with lemongrass and sage potato puree and lemon radish. Desert Hills also won the best wine pairing award for their Viognier. The costume contest was won by a couple of ladies dressed as jellyfish! It was a fun evening full of delicious food, wine pairing, and good times.
