Rainy Day Activities in Osoyoos

While Osoyoos has a low annual rainfall, a rainy day can keep you away from our beautiful beaches and lake activities.

But, there are still so many activities to do around town that will keep you busy until the sun shines again. See below for some great activities to do on a rainy day!

Experience Osoyoos in the fall

1. Visit the interpretation facility at the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre

The spectacular Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre is a state-of-the-art interpretive centre constructed into a hillside in Osoyoos, BC. Their extensive indoor exhibit creates a fun, interactive learning environment with hands-on displays, education stations and two multi-media theatre experiences. Discover the fascinating stories of Canada’s desert and share in the rich living culture of the Okanagan people.

2. Try a treat from a café or bakery

Rainy days are made for a hot drink or a just-baked treat. Find something for the sweet tooths or seekers of savoury plus gourmet coffee at our local cafes or bakeries!

3. Go bowling

Bowl 5 pins at Kobau Lanes for an afternoon or evening of fun! Kobau Lanes offers cosmic lights, a licensed lounge area, and welcomes takeout from neighbouring restaurants in Osoyoos!

4. Learn at our local museum

Formally established in 1963, the Osoyoos Museum houses a collection of over 4,000 pieces. Come immerse yourself in local history and deepen your connection with the community.

Guided historical walking tours are available during the summer months.  Contact the museum for the schedule, or get a group together for a private tour.

5. See an Art Show

Osoyoos has two amazing art galleries located right on Main Street, each with unique offerings so you can enjoy a full day exploring the Osoyoos art scene.

The Okanagan Art Gallery features painters, sculptors, and photographers. This gallery is an Artists Co-op run by the artists themselves – so you may run into an artist or two in the gallery when you visit, or find one busy creating. The Art Gallery Osoyoos offers original art produced by artists and artisans. The gallery features guest artists, local and non-local, throughout the year.
