Permits & Regulations
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card is mandatory under Transport Canada regulations.
- If you’re fishing, don’t forget your license—available online or locally.
- Boaters, paddleboarders, and kayakers must obey speed limits and no‑wake zones, and ensure life jackets are worn—safety essentials on Osoyoos Lake.
Responsible Recreation & Mussel Prevention
The “Don’t Move a Mussel” campaign is critical. Clean, drain, and fully dry your boat, PWC, canoe, paddleboard—anything that touches water—to prevent invasive zebra/quagga mussels from entering the lake .

- Use the Responsible Recreation Checklist for a step‑by‑step guide.
- If you are transporting any type of watercraft in B.C. (boat, kayak, paddleboard, etc.) it is mandatory to stop and report to all provincial invasive mussel watercraft inspection stations along your travel route. Failing to stop at a B.C. inspection station can result in a $690 fine.
- If you are hauling watercraft outside of inspection hours, call the 1-800 inspection hotline at 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP).

Public Launches
- Osoyoos Lake Regional Park, Desert Sunrise Marina downtown, and Haynes Point Provincial Park are main public boat launches.
Marinas & Private Docks
- Desert Sunrise Marina offers boat slip that are booked at a daily rate.
- Resorts in Osoyoos provide moorage for guests at an additional expense, ranging from $29/night – $75/night.
- Nk’Mip Campground & RV Park has a marina with launches and moorage.
Watercraft Options & Rentals
- Boats & Sea-Doos: Rental locations like Wakepilot offer boats, PWCs, and charters from Spirit Ridge, Walnut Beach, or Desert Sunrise.
- Kayaks & Paddleboards: Local vendors like ATB Watersports (offer both single and tandem kayaks, SUPs, lessons) and Wakepilot make equipment accessible across the lake.
