HESTER CREEK: OUR ROOTS RUN DEEP
At Hester Creek, we have a passion for creating outstanding wines and an atmosphere of gracious hospitality for our guests. With classic varietals planted in 1968 on our historic Golden Mile Bench estate property, our goal is to bring the community together over wine, food and good times while enjoying the beauty of the South Okanagan.
Over fifty years ago, BC wine pioneer, Joe Busnardo, recognized the potential for growing Vitis Vinifera grapes on a site reminiscent of the Italian hillsides of his youth. This site would later become known as the Golden Mile Bench – the first sub-geographical indication in BC. Many of those original plantings thrived on the site, and in 2004, current owner, Curt Garland, purchased the property with a vision of making it the destination winery it is today. Garland began by making investments in the vineyards as well as, building the state-of-the-art cellar where all the winemaking is done to this day. He also began the process of assembling an accomplished team, which now includes Okanagan-raised winemaker, Mark Hopley.
Today, Hester Creek offers a warm wine country welcome to guests with premium old-vine wines and numerous experiences taking place on the estate. Open all year, the Wine Shop has a variety of tasting experiences which are available by reservation or first come, first served.
For guests who are looking for a place to stay, Hester Creek has The Villa. This boutique hotel features six luxury suites with stunning views of the South Okanagan. The Villa is adult-oriented and open from February to November.
Meaning, “Fine Earth,” Terrafina is the restaurant which features an Italian-inspired menu curated by Chef Adair Scott. The menu changes with the seasons as the ingredients are sourced locally with some being grown in the estate garden that Chef Adair planted in the spring of 2020. Terrafina is open from February to November and hours will vary with the seasons.
On weekends in the summer, the winery hosts live music on the patio, and during the week, guests can enjoy a glass of wine for Happy Hour between 1:00 and 5:00 while taking in the views of the vineyards that adorn the property. With lots of events and tasting experiences available throughout the year, guests are sure to have a good time.
